Darling, it’s summer time! Our smiles are brighter, our moods are elevated and weekend picnics are now a totally doable thing again (finally). So to bring in the new season & to act as the perfect accompaniment to your dying-to-be-drunk Aperol Spritz, here is a list of the bops that I have on repeat:
Honeypie – Johnny Utah
The perfect backing track to the BBQ you’re hosting on this weekend. Upbeat, flirty, and fun. Sure to have even your grandpa subconsciously bopping his fedora covered head.
Dancing Around – Flor
“I wish for the madness. I live a bit lavish. With no care beside, I’ll be living this freely.” Who doesn’t love a lighthearted positive bop?
Late Night Feelings – Mark Ronson, Lykke Li
British DJ, Mark Ronson, has done it again, and it really is a piece of its own. Somehow Ronson has quite literally been able to capture the magic of long summer days, late light nights, and the romantic wilderness of a summer fling and put it into a 4 minute melody.
6’s to 9’s – Big Wild, Rationale
Cool, effortless, sexy. There’s just something so Prince-ish about this song. The perfect follow up to Late Night Feelings (above).
Settle – BAYNK, Sinead Harnett
If songs exude colours, this would be bursting like a pastel sunset. Love it. Listen to it while relaxing in the sun and just allow yourself to zone out.
Doin’ Time – Lana Del Ray
The ultimate 007 Bond Girl song. Don’t be surprised if by the end of the song you find yourself wearing a big wide brimmed hat, round glamorous glasses and a cool as steel face with a martini in hand.
